Let's cook with Titina!
Titina Cosentino Vuotto was born on the Island of Capri, Italy. Her family owned a Restaurant called "Le Sirene" on the beach of Marina Piccola on the southern part of the island. "Le Sirene" is still owned by Titina who inherited it from her parents. Titina learned the art of cooking working in the kitchen of the Restaurant from her very successful Mother and Father. "Le Sirene" quickly became one of the best and most fashionable on the island.
Titina worked in the restaurant with her parents until she married Costanzo. Keeping in the family tradition they opened and owned their own restaurant and hotel called "La Pineta." Like "Le Sirene," the hotel and restaurant "La Pineta." became well known for its hospitality and exquisite food. Once again Titina was considered one of the best chefs on the island. Costanzo & Titina were credited and mentioned in all the best guide books for the quality of the food and the hospitality of the hotel.
During these years, Titina wrote two recipe books and many articles for newspapers and magazines.
Titina always cooks with the best and freshest ingredients. Titina and her Mother created a salad called "La Caprese" that has become famous everywhere in the world; and Titina created the wonderful and delightful tomato sauce called "Sciué-Sciué."
Titina has been cooking and creating wonderful recipes all her life. Upon arriving in the United States, Titina has taught cooking classes in Newport and Providence, Rhode Island, as well as here in Cary, North Carolina. In Newport she taught for two years at the Swinbourne School and in Providence at the "Al Forno" Restaurant.
